IIT COACHING

At Dhakshina we have developed an ideal model of coaching with well structured course material and result oriented tutoring. We have a two years package for class XI students and one year for class XII students. We also give a strong foundation for Class IX and X students so that when they go to higher secondary classes they will have their concepts clear and our goal for IX and X is to make the subjects interesting.

Students who have already joined will speak for the quality of training they receive and how they enjoy the classes.

The students have to crack multiple choice questions of different types and negative marking pulls their score down thus affecting their rank. The students need comprehensive and deeper knowledge in every topic of the subjects. Therefore, we teach them to attack finer points of theory and problems and help them develop good problem solving techniques.

We offer 12 hrs of teaching in four days and 3 hrs. of testing on Saturday. The time table is so framed as to help the students to prepare for the board exams also. Therefore most of the training in problem solving is given at the centre and of course home assignments.

The main advantage of Dhakshina is availability of very good team of full time faculty who will clear doubts during the whole day (11 am to 7 pm) if a student approaches. We do encourage the students to utilize this facility by asking them to come to the centre during day time also if their school is closed. We encourage active participation of the students in the classes.

After the board exam, intensive training starts, the students spending whole day (10 am to 6 pm) learning and solving problems.

The additional advantage of Dhakshina is a small batch size..

We insist on regular and punctual attendance.

RANKING

Only those candidates who attempt both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be considered for the ranking. Marks in Chemistry in JEE will be equal to marks in Chemistry section of Paper 1 + marks in Chemistry section of Paper 2. Similar procedure will be followed for Mathematics and Physics. The sum of the marks obtained in the individual subjects in JEE will be the aggregate mark for the candidate. The average of the marks scored by all such candidates will be computed for each of the three subjects. These will be the minimum qualifying mark for ranking (MQMR) in the individual subjects.

Roughly 3,00,000 children take up the entrance exam for IIT out of which 8000 plus are selected (this includes in the new proposed IITs).

In Chennai zone, the number of students appeared is around 49000 and the number qualified for admission is around 2000. Chennai ranking is low when it is compared to Bombay, Delhi and Roorkee. The reason may be heavy load of syllabus at Higher Secondary and the students and their parents are more anxious about the score in the Board Examination which may help them to secure a good ranking for Tamil Nadu Engineering. As they have two entirely different goals, they are not able to do justice to either. Therefore, the effort they put for IIT is not enough for them to secure good ranking.

Keeping this in mind we give coaching for IIT, giving enough time for them to prepare for the regular course. When they are able to balance both they are sure to succeed. After Board Exams, we keep them for full day in the centre (10 am to 6 pm) and give exhaustive training.

The same kind of approach is adopted for AIEEE and AIPMT also.

Our results so far in Board Exams and Entrance Exams have been excellent and now we want to provide the students good training for IIT also.
